Aug 12, 2021

In recent news, the State of Israel registered more than 5,000 cases of the novel coronavirus. This information was provided by the Health Ministry on Wednesday, regarding the figures recorded on Tuesday.

As per the data published the number of serious cases in the country of the deadly disease has further exceeded. As of now, there are more than 400 patients in serious conditions in hospice, which is greater than the number recorded on Monday, as well as the last six months.

On the other hand, the rate of tests resulting in a positive diagnosis of the coronavirus has slightly decreased. From a figure of 4.91% recorded on Monday, the rate of positivity was recorded to be 4.59% on Tuesday.

More than 5.8 million citizens in the State of Israel have been given the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Meanwhile, 5.4 million have received the second jab as well. 64,899 Israelis were also inoculated with the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine, in the recent campaign started by the government.

Around 90% of the people in the country, who are experiencing serious symptoms of the disease, are aged 50 years or above. Due to these figures, the Prime Minister of Israel, Naftali Bennett, was prompted to encouraged senior citizens in the country to get their third dose of the vaccine.

In addition, on Tuesday, officials of the Health Ministry and members of its advisory teams gathered to talk about whether the third jab of the vaccine should be administered to people over the age of 45.

There were only a handful of experts on the coronavirus pandemic response team, who supported the idea of administering the shot to people aged below 60. However, the majority did not approve of this idea and the opinions of the members were widely divided.

Despite this, some sources stated that they are hopeful that there will be a change in this attitude in a couple of days. This could be made possible due to the morbidity trends, which seem to be on the rise, as well as marked signs that the third shot is beneficial for all those aged 60 and above.

Just a day earlier, the Centers for Disease Control in the U.S. placed the State of Israel on its highest risk level and proceeded to advise citizens of the country to not travel to it.

Level 4: Very High Level of Coronavirus classification dictates that Americans do not travel to the country that has been deemed at this level. However, if they do want to travel to Israel, the CDC advised that they should be fully vaccinated.

It went on to warn that due to the current situation that is taking place in Israel, people who are fully vaccinated might even be at risk for contracting and consequently, spreading variants of the deadly disease. The recommendation also pertained to Gaza, as well as the West Bank.

Previously, Israel was classified as a Level 3, which prompted the CDC to advise that Americans avoid traveling to the country unless it is absolutely necessary.
